Finding Strength in Connection
When member Valerie Crosby discovered she was expecting her first child, she was filled with excitement—and apprehension.
Her husband, holding to traditional beliefs, often viewed pregnancy and parenting preparation as women’s responsibilities, leaving Valerie feeling isolated during this pivotal time.
Everything changed when Valerie joined Wider Circle. At her first event, she met a group of compassionate women who welcomed her with open arms. Through mentorship, shared resources, and heartfelt advice, Valerie found not just guidance but a true sense of community. For the first time in her pregnancy, she no longer felt alone.
One event, in particular, became a defining moment in Valerie’s journey. On December 4, 2024, Valerie joined the virtual session “You Will Have What You Say,” an empowering gathering focused on positive affirmations and prioritizing good health. Unbeknownst to the group, Valerie was calling in from her hospital bed—having just delivered her baby girl! Despite her life-changing moment, Valerie felt so connected to her Wider Circle friends that she didn’t want to miss the opportunity to support and be supported by them.
Her dedication left everyone speechless. “I couldn’t let the group down,” Valerie shared, her voice filled with emotion. “You’ve been there for me every step of the way, and that means the world to me.”
The feeling was mutual. As Valerie’s Wider Circle family, we couldn’t be prouder of her resilience, her warmth, and her determination to stay connected even during such a monumental moment. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of community—the kind of strength that blossoms when we invest in one another.
