Redwood City, CA – December 8, 2022 – Wider Circle, a peer-based community health organization that works with payers and providers to connect neighbors for better health, today announced its acquisition of the team and technology assets of Saeidan Inc., a Los Angeles–based company whose mission is to transform the Medicare plan-selection process.
With this acquisition, Wider Circle enhances its community-based model with resources and technology to help Medicare-eligible beneficiaries navigate the critical decision of finding the right healthcare coverage. Riaz Ali and Ken Williams, co-founders of Saeidan, join Wider Circle to lead this independently operated new venture.
“Since our founding, Wider Circle has been committed to serving our aging population by building and scaling neighborhood programs to support health and well-being. Finding the right Medicare plan is a critical but often confusing process for the more than 60 million beneficiaries in the U.S.,” said Darin Buxbaum, CEO of Wider Circle. “With this acquisition and our continued work with high quality, local agents, we are committed to delivering a member-centric experience that fosters a more confident health plan decision.”
“Joining Wider Circle allows us to continue our work to transform the Medicare plan-selection experience—particularly for the underserved—and to do so under the banner of a rapidly growing organization that shares our broader mission to serve older adults. We have long admired Wider Circle and are excited to have the opportunity to work alongside this team on this really important area,” said Riaz Ali, CEO and co-founder of Saeidan.
Prior to founding Saeidan, Riaz served as the Chief Marketing Officer at SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans. Prior to Saeidan, Ken Williams was a Managing Director at Avalere Health, a leading healthcare consulting and strategy organization. Together, they bring more than 40 years of experience across Medicare operations, policy, experience design and healthcare technology.
