At Wider Circle, we believe true well-being starts with connection. Stories from the Circle is our way of highlighting real moments of impact—stories that show how community-driven programs are fostering meaningful connections, improving engagement, and driving better health outcomes.

In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing the inspiring story of George, a colon cancer survivor whose journey to healing was strengthened by the power of community. His experience is a reminder that recovery isn’t just about treatment—it’s about support, movement, and connection.

Check out the video link below to see George tell his story firsthand.

We hope George’s story inspires you and reminds you of the profound difference that a caring, connected community can make. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!

Five years ago, George faced one of the biggest challenges of his life—colon cancer. After completing chemotherapy, George focused on recovery but something was missing. Staying home and isolated made it harder to rebuild his health, and he knew he needed more than just medical treatment to feel like himself again.

That’s when he found Wider Circle.

George joined the community and quickly discovered that health isn’t just about doctor visits—it’s about movement, connection, and learning how to care for yourself in new ways. Through Wider Circle’s social activities, nutrition education, and exercise programs, he gained the tools to take control of his well-being.

“I’ve learned so much about nutrition—what to eat and what not to eat,” George shared. “When your gut is healthy, everything else in your body starts working better. And you feel better, too.”

By staying active, eating better, and surrounding himself with a supportive community, George gave his body what it needed to heal.

Today, his cancer is in remission and his doctors couldn’t be happier with his progress. George told his doctors about Wider Circle and “they told me to keep up with it because the results are coming in great.”

George’s story is a powerful reminder that healing isn’t just about treatment—it’s about community. When we support each other, we don’t just recover – we thrive.
